Acupuncture for Animals Very Effective
This is a very good article in the Utica Observer – Dispatch talking about how effective acupuncture is for animals. This undermines the argument that acupuncture is merely a “placebo effect”. I have seen first hand the effect acupuncture has had on animals and it is amazing. I once had the opportunity to work with a veterinarian on an alpaca (a close relative of a Llama) when I was practicing in Upstate New York. The animal had a neurologic problem associated with a parasitic infection that left its rear legs partially paralyzed. With treatment its rear legs became stronger and its walking improved noticibly.
James Leonard carefully looks over the patient on his examining-room table before applying a laser light to a front leg.
The Blissfield veterinarian holds the laser in place for about 10 seconds each time in several different areas. Josie, a 3-year-old Australian blue heeler — that’s another name for an Australian cattle dog — stands quietly on the table as her owners, Gary and Stacey Derby of Morenci, look on.
